Traditional event in Langgam

   Langgam societies has some traditional event. One of the traditional event is “ mandi balimau kasai pasang mogang “. This event is tradition to welcome ramadhan. Usually this event conducted one day before ramadhan comes. It is tradition reputed as purgation ceremony for spiritual and phisycal, also as fortunately action and happiness expression because ramadhan comes. They believed this tradition can chase away all of bad characteristic of them.This tradion has for along time from one generation to the other generation. According to history of langgam this tradition it is from king at the last time. Balimau it is means take a bath with water mixed to limau and some of flowers, and kasai means perfumery that usually used to shampo. 

 

            The rule of balimau kasai potang mogang opened by eat together (makan bejambau) with leader of custom, village elders and all of societies. This event arranged at side of kampar river. And then, togak tonggol ceremony or holsted flag of ethnic on along pole, it is ceremony means there is no ethnic problem between societies or piece of flag. Flag is a symbol that have to do for all traditional event. After that, all of societies will go into the river to take a bath (balimau) together. This tradition still going on until now. 

            Not only balimau kasai potang mogang  traditional in langgam  to welcome ramadhan comes. Usually 4 days before ramadhan all of people visited a tomb. And then, leader of custom make association to ethnic understanding . in this event leader of custom make a decorate small boat contest to entertaint socities and visitor.
